Mountain Stars Quilters Guild will be holding their biennial quilt show on Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25, 2016 from 10am to 4pm daily. The show, Cherish the Old – Embrace the New, is at a new venue this year: Cascade Christian High School, 855 Chevy Way, Medford, OR. Admission is $5. Proceeds from the show will support quilt education in southern Oregon.

   Over two hundred quilts will be on display, including a special Quilts of Valor display, guild challenge quilts, an antique quilt display and special guild projects. Featured quilter is guild member, Norma Banaka of Grants Pass, who demonstrates through her quilts that one does not have to be young to make modern quilts. The show also features our usual favorites: vendors, hourly door prizes and the Pins & Needles Boutique.  New this year is the Quilt Patch Café serving lunch, refreshments and snacks. Part of the proceeds from the café will be donated to Cascade Christian High School.

  We will also have a twice daily bed turning with new and old quilts. A bed turning is a unique way of displaying quilts. Years ago a woman would invite her friends to her home to see the quilts she had completed. She would lay the quilts on a bed and one by one pull them up and off the bed to show them and discuss the making of the quilt. The bed turnings will be at 11am and 2pm daily.

  Tickets for the guild’s opportunity quilt, Rogue Beauty, will be on sale. The winning ticket for the quilt will be drawn on Saturday afternoon just before the close of the show.
