The TQS gang visits The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, NM, to greet quiltmaker and author Brian Haggard, who has parlayed his love for traditional crazy quilts into a body of work that puts a contemporary spin on a familiar genre. After sharing some of his beautifully embellished pieces, Brian demonstrates an easy way to showcase a cherished photo as the centerpiece for a special memory block. He also shows his technique for creating three-dimensional flowers using die cuts, and Ricky jumps on the embellishment bandwagon with creative ideas for free-motion couching.

Captain John went to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the AQS show in 2012 and came back with images of Egypt. Here are the fabulous quilts of Jenny Bowker and her friends the Tentmakers of Cairo. Jenny is the curator of the Stitch Like an Egyptian Exhibit featuring the Tentmakers of Cairo. The applique work has to be seen to be believed and as you can see the prices in the last four years have doubled.

This wonderful quilt was created by Brian Haggard. Buttons are quite a passion with Brian and he's the current president of the Indianopolis Button Club. In this quilt however, he created the images of the buttons on this quilt by using his computer. He put the buttons face down on his scanner bed and arranged them with old scissors and needles cases. He then printed his "fabric." You can read more about it on Brian's blog.
